A dera is where people gather — the courtyard where everyone knows they'll be welcome. That's the idea behind Dera Talk: one place on your phone where Pakistan talks, meets, buys, sells, and settles up.
We started with a simple observation. Pakistani users juggle four apps to do what should be one: a chat app, a ledger app, a parcel-tracking app, and a payments app — each one hungry for storage and data that expensive bundles can't spare. Dera Talk puts them together, light enough for the phones people actually own.
What's inside today
The foundations you'd expect: fast messaging, voice calls, status updates, stickers, communities and channels. And the parts you wouldn't: a public business page with your own @handle and QR code, a product catalog, order cards with real status tracking, a digital khata tied to real conversations, tracked parcels, Urdu voice typing, and an offline mode that keeps recent chats readable when the network gives up.
Three promises
Every product decision we make answers to these:
- Your contacts stay yours. We never bulk-upload your phone book, and friend-finding only works when you personally choose it — with a switch to turn it off forever.
- Your number stays private. Strangers can't see it, and the rule is enforced on our servers, not just hidden in an app.
- No data selling, no ads in private chats. Ever. Our business will be built on useful tools for businesses, not on your attention.
What's next
The wallet is rolling out gradually, and business tools are free during early access while we learn from real shops in real markets. If you run a dukan, claim your handle now — it costs nothing and it takes five minutes.
This blog is where we'll publish product updates, business guides, and honest notes about what we're learning. Bookmark it — kaam ki baat will always be written here first.
