Security & privacy
Plain words. Real protection.
Trust is earned in specifics, not slogans. Here is exactly what Dera Talk does to protect you — and what you can do to protect yourself.
Your number stays private
Strangers can't see your phone number. By default, only people who have your number saved — and who you've saved back — can link it to your profile. You can tighten this further in settings, and the rule is enforced on our servers, not just hidden in the app.
Your contacts stay on your phone
We don't bulk-upload or store your contact list. Finding friends on Dera Talk happens only when you explicitly choose it, results only ever show you — never the other person — and you can turn the feature off completely in settings.
Protected in transit
Everything you send travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). We keep server logs minimal — and we never write phone numbers or message content into logs, analytics, or error traces.
Scam Shield
Known scam numbers, phishing links, and suspicious patterns are flagged before they can do damage. Reporting takes two taps, and reports are reviewed by people, not just algorithms.
Block, report, remove
Blocking someone cuts all contact instantly — messages, calls, profile. Reports of fraud or harassment are acted on, including removing accounts that abuse the platform.
Your account, your control
You control your profile photo, last seen, status, and who can add you to groups. You can export your data or delete your account entirely — deletion removes your profile and personal data from our systems.
Five habits that stop most scams
- Never share OTP codes, PINs, or one-time passwords — not even with someone claiming to be Dera Talk support.
- Dera Talk staff will never ask for your password or ask you to send money to "verify" your wallet.
- Double-check @handles before paying a business — the verified handle page is the real one.
- If a deal looks too good to be true in a chat or community, report it. Scam Shield gets stronger with every report.
